RJFC Hits Brussels with Trashy Street Art
RJFC Hits Brussels! ~ Stickers #38, #39 & #40
On two separate trips to Brussels recently, I made these stickers using only trash found on the streets there.
RJFC Sticker #38 was completed using trash found on the streets of Brussels.
I made it while sitting at Le Pain Quotidien in the Galerie de la Reine in Brussels.
I left it the same day on a wooden construction barrier beside the Montana Shop & Gallery Brussels along Rue de la Madeleine. (above)
RJFC Sticker #39 was also completed using trash found on the streets there
and made while sitting at Le Pain Quotidien in the Galerie de la Reine in Brussels.
I left it the same day on a Taxi Parking sign in Brussels near Rue du Marché aux Herbes.(above)
RJFC Sticker #40 was completed a few weeks later, also using trash found on the streets of Brussels.
I made it while sitting at Café de la Presse on Avenue Louise near Ixelles in Brussels.
I left it the same day on a Dior perfume advertisement outside the Ici Paris XL perfume shop
on Chaussée de Waterloo at the intersection of Rue Vanderkindere.
Brussels is a great place to find materials on the ground to work with and also a great place for stickers. I see new and interesting ones every time I visit.
More coming soon!

USING TRASH OFF THE STREETS TO MAKE ART ON THE STREETS.
I use only trash and found items to collage these handmade, signed & numbered stickers. They are made to compliment my larger works which in which I use trashy paperback book covers, record & magazine covers, CDs, posters, postcards and other mass-produced media as a base for my hand-cut & paste collages, which I usually leave out on the streets for anyone to enjoy (or destroy.)

USING TRASH FROM THE STREETS TO MAKE ART ON THE STREETS
“Ray Johnson Fan Club” is one of my Noms de Guerre.
I use only trash and found objects in my hand-cut & paste collages.
Then I usually leave them out on the street for anyone to enjoy (or destroy.)
I made and posted four stickers and one larger collage during a recent trip to Geneva, Switzerland.
RJFC Sticker #30 was actually made 5/4/2013 using trash found on the streets of London.
I made it while on the ferry from Dover to Calais.
I left it in Geneva, Switzerland 5/25/2013 on a public trash can in front of the Mont Blanc store on Quai du Général-Guisan. (above)
RJFC Sticker #31 was completed 5/17/2013 while sitting at “Le temps d’un café” in Mons, Belgium.
I left it in Geneva, Switzerland 5/26/2013 on a dog poop bag dispenser at a little park in Place de l’Octroi in the Carouge neighborhood.
RJFC Sticker #32 was completed 5/25/2013 using trash found on the streets of Geneva. I made it while visiting there at our rental apartment near Carouge.
I left it in Geneva, Switzerland 5/26/2013 on a roundabout street sign on Rue Charles-Galland, between the Museum of Art and History and the Palais de Justice. (above)
RJFC Sticker #33 was completed 5/26/2013 using trash found on the streets of Geneva. I made it while visiting there at our rental apartment near Carouge.
I left it 5/27/2013 on a large rusty planter in front of the Microcosm center at CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research) in Meyrin, just outside Geneva. (above)
It was a fairly productive visit for me and I also made one larger, record cover collage.

Denis Meyers in America
I was on a trip in the Southeast USA in late November. Here are some street art stickers by the talented Brussels artist Denis Meyers.
This is actually the backside of this very intricate, large sticker at a bus stop in downtown Atlanta.
Here’s the front side.
Here’s a sneaky little one on the emergency exit of a bus in Savannah.
- Denis Meyers Sticker – Greyhound Bus, Savannah, Georgia
This one was on a sign in Cabbagetown next to a large piece by Trek Matthews for the Living Walls Concept.
Here’s a nice pair in the parking lot of a trendy mall.
This one is on the head of a guy on a High Voltage sign in the parking lot of the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia…
This one is actually on the restroom sign at the Official Florida Welcome Center at the Georgia/Florida state line.
And this lovely little group is in just about the last place you’d expect to come across artistic stickers…
Hudson Beach Park.
Anyway – hope you enjoyed seeing them as much as I enjoyed photographing them.
And please check out more from the artist himself at: http://www.denismeyers.com/

First 3 Disc Stickers Ready for Barcelona
I’ve decided to apply my trashy collage to some CD labels to use as stickers. I’ve never seen it done before, but it seemed so obvious to use the stack of ready-made labels in that shape that is instantly recognizable as a CD/DVD. Each one is hand-cut and pasted using only trash and found materials. Each is also hand signed and stamped. “PAY NO ATTENTION TO Ray Johnson Fan Club .com” I’ll be posting these up in Barcelona next week and making a few more while I’m there as well as my usual Album Cover collages.
Later I plan to actually collage on some CDs themselves and have some original art on them digitally.
Stay tuned! at www.rayjohnsonfanclub.com
